Virtual Rockstar and VA Academy Host First In-Person VA Meetup in BGC, Taguig

40 Filipino Virtual Assistants and BPO Professionals Gather to Explore the Shift Into U.S. Healthcare VA Work

Virtual Rockstar, the company connecting U.S. private practice owners with highly experienced Filipino virtual assistants, hosted its first VA Academy In-Person Meet and Greet at Apartment 1B in BGC, Taguig. The event brought together 40 attendees, including active Rockstar VAs and BPO professionals exploring a career transition into U.S. healthcare virtual assistance.

The event was led by Andre Dagoc, Director of the VA Academy at Virtual Rockstar, who has personally placed hundreds of Filipino VAs with U.S. healthcare clients, including physical therapy clinics, chiropractic offices, and medical groups. Dagoc works directly alongside Virtual Rockstar founder and Chief Rockstar Will Humphreys, and brings firsthand insight into what U.S. healthcare practices are looking for when hiring remote support staff.

Also present at the event were Virtual Rockstar team members Liz Boniola, Angelyn Joven, Abby Roman, and Sab Dizon.

BPO Experience Is an Asset, Not a Starting Point

A central theme of the event was reframing what BPO professionals already bring to the table. Dagoc’s message to attendees was direct: your background is not a liability. The communication skills, client-facing experience, and structured workflow habits developed in BPO roles map closely to what U.S. healthcare clients hire for. Attendees were encouraged to see themselves as already ahead, not starting over.

Dagoc also addressed a lifestyle reality many BPO workers know well. Long commutes, fixed night shifts, and schedules that pull people away from family are common friction points in traditional BPO careers. The VA model offers a different path: working U.S. daytime hours from home, with the flexibility to be present for family life in a way that night-shift work often makes difficult.

The AI Opportunity

Dagoc also spoke to the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of VA work. Rather than framing AI as a threat, he positioned it as a growth accelerator for VAs willing to develop the right skills. Income potential in this field continues to grow alongside AI fluency, and VAs who invest in those skills are well positioned for the long term.

A Community That Extends Beyond the Screen

The meetup was as much about connection as it was about career development. For many attendees, it was the first time meeting colleagues and collaborators face to face after working together remotely. The energy reflected something Virtual Rockstar has built intentionally: a community of professionals who support one another, not just a roster of placed workers.
